On Saturday we had planned to celebrate Chinese New Year with few friends.. but then we got hit with a pretty messy snowstorm. Despite being a bit bummed out.. we decided to celebrate as a family. I attempted to make Sweet & Sour chicken in the lovely ol' crock pot. I think that our meal turned out rather well. Plus it saved me some sanity since I had to work Saturday morning.

Sweet & Sour chicken was the perfect meal for a snowy cold day. As we sat at the dining room table we watched cars attempt to climb the snowy road outside of our home. We were surprised to see so many cars on the road. I know that when I left work at 1:45 the roads were a complete mess.. including the highway.

We ended the perfect Chinese New Year meal with homemade vanilla cupcakes topped with butter cream frosting and a candy orange slice.
