And now we wait....

I found out this morning that our I-800a application made it safely to USCIS a day early! I sent USCIS an email (yeah I like to find out things sooner than later) asking how long this process has been taking.. I also asked if it were true that you could just walk-in to a USCIS place and have your fingerprints taken before your actual appointment date. I love it when I receive a reply from an actual person!

"Our website states to allow 90 days processing time from the time it is received at the lockbox – however, we are usually more in the 40-70 day range. You will receive a receipt notice in the mail in approximately 7 days from the lockbox then in approximately another 7 days you should receive your fingerprint appointment notices. ASC offices vary all across the country as to whether or not they will take walk-ins or not so we cannot advise you on that, it is just up to you whether you want to try it. However, it will not speed up the processing of your application as they are strictly worked from the order they were received at the lockbox."

So it's not at all what I wanted to hear.. Praying that we receive approval sooner than 40 days!
